In a pre-release meeting with DxO, it was clear that the team puts great care into crafting digital recreations of classic analog films, including the precise reproduction of grain and color profiles. DxO takes great pride in its film reproduction. DxO FilmPack 6 promises to render 'the soul of analog photography' accurately.įilmPack 6 introduces numerous new features, including the same new Fujifilm X-Trans support as DxO PhotoLab 5.

DXO FILMPACK 5 ELITE EDITION SOFY UPGRADE
If you own DxO PhotoLab 3 or 4, special upgrade pricing is available after logging into your DxO customer account. DxO PhotoLab 5 Elite Edition is $164.99, regularly $219. The Essential Edition is $109.99, regularly $139. is this functionality perhaps not part of "Film Pack Essential"? That's what I have installed (on my PL4 Elite) and I can't seem to find those specific contrast controls.DxO PhotoLab 5 is available now for macOS and Windows in Essential and Elite versions at special introductory pricing until November 14. It's interesting, I don't think DxO's promotions make much mention of those FP features. I've bought FP exactly because of the extra controls it adds to Photo Lab. Effective costs therefore diminish quickly. Viewpoint and FilmPack do not get upgraded often so you should consider these as one off purchases.

These are very useful when fine tuning images. One aspect often overlooked is that when you have FilmPack installed alongside Photolab Elite is that it adds Shadow, Mid & Highlight contrast controls to PhotoLab. For example, the repair/cloning tools in PL4 are still quite rudimentary.įilmPack 5 works very well if you want to explore different "film" effects and the B&W conversions are good and of course, you are working in raw. You would still need something like PS or Affinity Photo for a few images. The 1- DxO Standard preset applied to a raw photo offers a complete optical correction.
DXO FILMPACK 5 ELITE EDITION SOFY FULL
It doesn't have a full DAM (which for me is a positive) and the pixel/paint/layer editing capabilities are far short of PS. Some combo (camera + lens) have two DxO modules depending on whether the photo is from a raw or JPEG file.
DXO FILMPACK 5 ELITE EDITION SOFY UPDATE
DxO must reckon that this year's update is compelling enough to command a higher price. Note that, this year, PhotoLab Elite isn't getting the full 50% discount, even in the BF sale. I think ('up to') 50% is only usually offered at BF, and only lasts a short time. Their 'normal' sale price is 30% off, and that's available quite often. No, this is the best sale price they offer. Do they have better sales than Black Friday later in the year like near Christmas? For me, FilmPack is useful for my P900 which doesn't have raw output, and I also use it occasionally on raw, especially when the white balance or colors are wonky, and they sometimes work better than the camera emulations.īuying them later will reduce the price shock. If you get FilmPack, get the Elite version. Viewpoint is more valuable in my opinion. I got VP and FP in separate deals later, which was OK for me. As all three packs get expensive even with good sale. What would ViewPoint 3 buy me over what I can do in Lightroom already? On top of that DXO has not updated VP3 to VP4 yet either. Joe Saulino on DxO FilmPack Elite 5.5.20 Build 589 (圆4) VERIFIED. With this upgrade is PL4 now a great replacement for Lightroom/Ps? What is still missing? I am leaning towards buying only Elite PL4 and VP3 at this time.

I'd recommend buying all three (elite editions when available). Apart from the film emulations and effects, it also adds some useful tools to PL, such as creative vignetting.Īs all three packs get expensive even with good sale.
DXO FILMPACK 5 ELITE EDITION SOFY PRO
Remember that PhotoLab 4 is really DxO Optics Pro 15, so it's had a lot more releases than the other two DxO products. Their version numbers are unrelated to PL's. VP and FP have their own, separate, and much slower update cycles. On top of that DXO has not updated VP3 to VP4 yet either. Its perspective correction isn't unique, but is particularly slick to use. You simply can't do it in LR, leading to ugly wide-angle shots. The automatic volume deformation correction is unique to VP.

What would ViewPoint 3 buy me over what I can do in Lightroom already? I am thinking of buying DXO PL4 ELITE Edition on this black Friday sale but not sure if I should buy the other two packs.
